“Repeating Patterns”

Not getting out there with my camera much these days. Capturing lots
of every day life with my boys, but nothing worth posting. I kept my
eye out for some “Repeating Patterns” though and found the perfect
opportunity at Lake Compounce last night.

This will be my last post for a while; tomorrow we leave to visit my
mom in Maine for three weeks, and I don't have a laptop. Should be
packing all my scrapbooking stuff right now, but chose to take some
time post these instead:

I actually spent quite a bit of time photographing the swings. The changing
colors of the lights were mesmerizing. Plus it was a challenging shot for my
point-and-shoot, so it took several tries to get what I was trying for:

“Reflections in Glass”

I've missed having an “assignment” to work on. I was checking out a friend's
blog
and found this meme that I thought I'd give a try. That, along with
another one (showing up on Wednesdays), plus my renewed enthusiasm
for photography overall, made for a very enjoyable day at Old Sturbridge
Village. (Not to mention the wonderful company my family provides.)

So these are some of the “Reflections in Glass” I noticed. Usually I post only
one photo for a meme, but I was so happy with these that I couldn't choose
which one. (I guess my creative juices really are flowing again.)

So which is your favorite, and why?

“Fire Spinning”

This was definitely one of those times I ached for a decent camera. No point
and shoot could ever adequately capture how fantastic this show was. That
didn't keep me from trying about 150 times though. This is the clearest. Gotta
love how in focus those rocks are! Bleh.

“Mothy Inspiration”

It's been so hot that I haven't sat out on my deck for my morning coffee in weeks.
Today was exquisite though, and this guy just sat there on the deck railing inviting
me to photograph him. He let me get so close too. He also inspired me to take a
walk through my gardens with my camera, and I got some nice shots. Perhaps
I'll share them another day.

Thank you moth, for reminding me to look for the beauty in the mundane.

“Statue of Liberty”

I haven't been inspired by photography lately. (Actually, I haven't
been inspired by anything.) I've still been taking photos, but don't
upload them off my camera all that often, and even when I do I
don't even bother to look through them. I think it's time to try
to snap out of my lull though. At least for this evening. So I
looked through my file of Governor’s Island photos I took back
in June, and decided to post one.

The view from the island was spectacular.
